Very terrible all around.Īt first everything was wonderful. Every phone call was made by someone who could barely speak English as well. The shipment was delayed a couple weeks because payment was asked for in an email a couple hours before loading with no regard for the 8 hour time difference. Apparently I was to be contacted to arrange the correct truck or a forklift for delivery but was not. Our shipment went through a few different companies on its way, all having different communication issues.

The ONLY good part of this whole thing was the delivery driver was more than happy to help us. Getting everything unpacked and a few things were broken, furniture damaged, and packed poorly. Furniture arrived but was on the wrong kind of truck so we had to disassemble a whole palette in side the truck.

Got a call for delivery two days before delivery date, had to scramble to get help just for them to cancel then be late the next day. There were many delays on both ends due to miscommunication and unclear instructions. What should have been one month turned into two. 1st Move International should have made it clear that the boxes would not be delivered to the final destination but to a depot and additional costs would be incurred. In total, I ended up paying several hundred more dollars for the move than my initial outlay to 1st Move. Additional stress was caused by the the depot in LA threatening to charge a daily fee if the boxes were not collected within 5 days - their arrival coincided with Labor Day weekend but they did not take this holiday into account in their 5 day countdown. I had to pay hundreds of dollars to the depot for handling the items and for a truck and driver to collect them (I don't drive and nor do I have a truck large enough for the boxes). What was even more frustrating was that the items were not delivered to the final delivery address but were taken to a depot on the other side of Los Angeles.

What was very disappointing was the additional fees from USA port and customs upon arrival in America I hadn't anticipated that this would cost as much as it did. Great company, great people, very happy.Ĭollection of boxes in UK was efficient and information about their progress to destination was regular.

I would definitely recommend 1st Move International to anyone that asks. The furniture arrived in the same condition it left in, nothing was broken and being at customs on the day of delivery I could see it was packed and wrapped with care. Having received our furniture and personal belongings now in Brisbane, I am happy to report that they did everything they said they would. We said goodbye to our furniture and understood that it would be repacked where needed onto pallets for the sailing. On the day their packers and movers arrived bang on time and were quite happy to grab an extra lounge suite we had in storage (we did tell them this on the phone), they packed furiously but carefully and were in and out within about 8 hours. Surprisingly 1st Move were extremely accommodating, they were happy to discuss the move with me over the phone and more importantly answered their phone every time I rang and gave me all the information I needed. We called 1st Move International and let them know that we needed to be packed up and gone within a week, with everything to be put into a 20ft sole use container.

Due to a family emergency my wife, son and myself had to move out of a top floor walk up flat in London and across to the other side of the world (Brisbane Australia) with very little notice.
